What, MCYM Youth can do for da church?

While i was participating in a discussion forum in malankara web site ( http://www.malankara.org.in/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,265/topic,5.0/lang,en ) one of my friend asked " what we can do for our church as a youth? ", i had given a reply from my own experiance in malankara church as a youth. i wud like to share that here for my other youth friends.
There are many things youth can do in ground. creating more communities in many sites and chatting doesnt make any sense or growth in our spiritual life ( if u r really concern). See the mcym orkut community itself. more than 400 youths are joind and how many are participating in any discussion thread? or givingf their knowledge to others thru any thread? so lets be in one community and lets grow there.
now , according to my experiance in bahya kerala , the youths who are born here and those who migrated from kerala are two distinct group. both are having different views and different styles of funtioning in church and church activities. Our youths here , firstly depend on their parents and give importance to study and then job, but migrated one give importance to first church then the personal things ; jobs, family etc. bcose they have practical knowlege and they are worked in kerala in different ways and different situations. so they are ready to do anything for church.
our youths here till 10th they are busy in study and tuitions after 10th two yrs, just there in church but not mingle with elders, again when ever the exams are there they wil disappear, agin in grad. time they may go for part tiime job and , or call centers, so then it is as usual, no time!, again a fix job, and looking for better break, or higher study simutenously, etc. etc... So what i seen is they are on their own ways. but see we have to study, we have to get job, all i can understand, but little you should be devote your time and energy to church also. i grown up in that situation. so i never fallen down or i lost anything in my life, infact i learned many things and achieved many goals in my life ONLY thru CHURCH.
so i have few suggestions to our youth here, first every sunday u attend the mass, what ever our fathers or sisters need from us , we have to support / help them what ever way we can. ( assist the mass, clean the church, decorate the alter etc. ) . any programs comes in our church, like feast, palli perunnal, xmas, etc be an active person in all situations. try to learn malayalam and understand the liturgy and tune, then take active participation in liturgy ( singing, reading ).
When i said "Our Youths" Aloysius of Borivli crossed that and said ' it is not true, its some'.
but if i ask you some means how many? can u tell me? but i will explain : Yes, i wud like to go in little deep . can u tell me SOME is how many? out of our 9 units , i will give u few explanations in this calculations from central side. In Ulhasnagar , the 96% of the youths are born here. out of this 85% are active. but they are under guidence of elders of the church. for their unit, they are active in all ways, not only in mcym, sundayschool, prayer meeting, assisting the mass, cleaning the church, cooking and kitchen works, and if any fight occurs. they are united in their own church if any matter comes up.
In Thane , the 90% ( there were many of migrants but they all r gone abroad ) of the youths are born here. but only few are there seen in church. rest of them like a True christian ( goes to church 3 times in the life. two times with the help of someone and one time alone ) . those FEW are there for meetings, cleaning, carol etc. Girls are more active than boys.
In vikhroli Now (after 2002-03 ) 98% are born here. for any work or any programme there all elders come first then students third youths. in youth there is a batch of newly become youths ( current president sibu samuel and aby abraham etc. batch) are active like they are before s.school students. they got good formation while they are s. school students. so they are carrying on their values. others are just for names and show face. here i wud like to take the name of one devoted family there i.e. Mr. PJ Cheriyan & fly. a role model for others.
In Borivli now i think 97% born here. and most of the youths are active and under guidence of elders. many elders , who are devoted thier life to malankara are can be seen here. just for few names, if i recollect KV thomas, KV John, Sara Mani, Ammini Rajan and 98 % flmys are having good knowledge and faith abut church and bringing up their children in family as well as in church.so they follow the tradition. For a youth , , they are come together in any programme of function they make sure their presence and make it success. but still few are there like "True christians."
In Vasai there are only few youths , but they are OK with their performance. theire is no politics and they work along with the elders specially under thye guidence of Varghese sir.
Sakinaka, once it was the one of the best unit in mumbai. but now bcose of politics ( including fathers and faithfuls) and inner problems they are very dull and keeping themselves away from the church matters. there is a mix group of born and migranst. and borns are under the guidence of migrants and elders. now we have to wait for their resurection .

new bombay - is just coming up. there are youths but now they are settiling and may will come up as a better unit. Malad, BARC - minority youths but who are there are very active. namely Annie from malad and Renitta from BARC.

this is the scenerio of our units about the youths and their participation according to ME ( ONLY ME) . Also i have personal experiances with all these units and also many of the people's comments from here and there , i heard , i just shared with u.
but after this my comment, again my friend fellow came up with few comments like this " Please do not take names of any one so explicitly. Some people whose names you have put will be happy, but if you have missed out even one name of an active member in the church, he/she will be really offended .
As for the matter of ( some MCYM members ).I don’t want to argue on this.I will take the complete responsibility of your so called statistics.I will try my level best to convert 90 % members (born in Mumbai) whom some people think are not active in the church to active members. For this I will need some time and if the Lord is with me I will succeed for sure.
And by the way I have already begun
You are a resourceful member and all really appreciate your inputs "
i have mentioned, it is just my opinion and my only opinion with my past experiance. if any one want to ask / argue / debate lets come to me. i am ready to talk to them. bcose i cannot close my eyes to the truth , which i seen, heard, experienced. so that i took the names of whom i remember ( put purposely) . atleast others should feel the positive aspects. but i agree if i forgot the name those who are active and not mentioned here, they may feel bad. but still i stick to my stand and tell the truth to public. there are people around us , who wants the NAME to be printed, to be taken. but for what? is that the mission of a Christian? after healing the blind what Jesus said? dont tell others. even he was not intrested to be in public and be popular. we have to follow that jesus. if we are doing some thing to church or mission it should not be for name or fame. God the creator knows each and every man and his deeds, so he get reward acording to his work. We have to learn that. then only we can be the right disciple of Jesus.
now i just continue 'what u can do topic' - now migrants are very less and even if they are there, they will be moving here and there. so borns have to take care of our church . so for that they have to 'know' the things in church. work along with the elders or migrants and learn the things, for example, How to read, how to reply, what r the arrangement for xmas and holy week programmes. ready to help any time , present at any programmes. talk politely to elders, listen to elders, not to back answer , these things u have to learn and apply in u r life. then the unit / community will grow.
one of the tradition of borns which i seen is, they are not in these activities which i mentiond but they are there in FRONT for Y'Zest, Sports, Picnic. Election. they want only name and position. if u r in a position then will work otherwise no. this attitude u have to take out. and be a silent missionary. Our ex- president Mr. Bennykutty was one of the good model Youth in Thane. also Aju and Shibu. they are not in front, but works like a slave, no complaints, no appreciation. we dont need to show to others what we do. God will give reward, that should be u r belief. let me conclude now, this is my personal opinion and experiance in mumbai since 1996. i just shared my feelings and what i seen in my life, it is not to hurt anyone. we all are in one family. we all have one God. we all have one belief. we all are aiming for heaven. so lets catch the hands and walk together and be a model for our children( catechism students).

To the Youths (MCYM)

Hey, youth are you ready to surf ?

The answer of the above question will be in the affirmative. The reason being people spend at least half an hour on the net, either everyday or on alternate days. Surfing the net is a very common practice these days, it has become more like a habit. It could be due to umpteen reasons like, job hunting, study or searching for a particular information, time pass and entertainment. It’s more prevalent in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkatta, Chennai etc. Though Cochin and Trivandrum can’t boast of similar addiction, they are certainly not far behind. Chat rooms have become the favorite abode of most of the youngsters. In the Cochin and Tvm chat room, many youth in the age group seventeen to twenty eight chat just for fun or time pass, with the sole intention of increasing their friend circle. Matters would have ended there, if this seemingly innocent friendship were done irrespective of the gender, of the chat buddy. Here, friendship is primarily dependent or rather strengthened based on the answer to the first question, which is the clichéd…. “Your a/s/l please.” God forbid, if the gender of the seeker and the new buddy is the same, the conversation comes to an abrupt end. Thus, one can understand what type of friendship they are seeking through this Chat. All are addicted to the net and with the advent of latest technologies like voice chat; gizmos like Web cam, people are pretty enthusiastic. One can hear the voice of the buddy and also see his face or what he is doing in his place. So, to sum up, chatting and surfing the net is a routine thing in the present times.

Now, if I ask you a similar question, a little differently, ‘Are you ready to surf on the Bible?’. Your answer will be an emphatic‘No’. The excuses will be myriad, viz -we are studying, have tuitions and practical or job, over timework in the office. Sundays we go to church and religiously participate in all the activities like Sunday school, MCYM, Prayer group and so on.

I want to know from you noblemen…. You find time to watch cinema serials or cricket etc. Then why can’t you enlighten your souls by gathering some pearls of wisdom, which our scriptures offer? Ask anyone, anything about serials or cricket, the answer is there in a jiffy. But, if I were to ask you, “Thy Money perish with thee”, who told this to whom? You will be at your wits end, wondering from where these words have originated. Desperate and frantic walks down your memory lane will not give you any clues, whatsoever. But, if you are a Bible surfer, you can answer this question. When you search something on the net, you type some keyword. If, I give you some keywords like Peter told this, then it is understood that Peter is in New Testament and more about Peter, is mentioned in ‘Acts’. Thus, if you read Acts you will come across this sentence.
So my dear friends, the way you surf on the net everyday, just spend ten minutes to read the Bible. I’m not asking you for, even a minute more. We spend hours trying to download jokes, poems, riddles, watching movies, so on and so forth. This life of ours if a gift of god and the least we can do is at least spend a few minutes everyday remembering his divine grace and thanking him for making us his reflection. In order, for that reflection to maintain its purity, we need to awake from the slumber that has gripped our soul and do our duty towards him to the best of our abilities. We can begin by, keeping aside some time for pursuing such religious activities like gathering some information from the net for our personal enlightenment.

The human mind is always led by temptation, we have very fickle thoughts, and we give in to our desires very soon. That’s the reason we surf the sites, which are full of filth, which probably paves the path for our doom. The only savior in such cases will be the voice of our heart, the voice of god. If we make a conscious effort to search for information which will lead to spiritual elevation then the job is half done. One can inculcate the habit of visiting the religious sites.

When you grow physically, intellectually, remind yourself good self to grow spiritually also. That’s the way to attain a well-balanced personality. That is the fundamental need of this life. Since we all know, that the goal of the human life is to attain ultimate perfection and that can be attained only through spiritual endeavors.
